This looks quite amazing and fun. More and more, our games are beginning to look a lot like the movies we are accustomed to seeing, or are we headed into an entirely new realm of entertainment, where games are now the focus and movies support the game. I could see it happening.

A new hover ad unit...hover over the image above to see what happens. At first, I thought this to be invasive, but its not so bad. When the large screen opens up however, I was hoping to see a larger view of the movie, the movie is still quite small. I'm not sure if there is much value in the static text and imagery surrounding the video. Make the video bigger.
And below is the MSNNBC Todd Kendrick review of the game. The game from what I hear is quite unique and fun - if you can figure out the puzzles. The animation and voice acting also looks very sweet. I'll probably check it out, seems like a wild experience.

A sarcastic view of what its like working in the video game industry that many of us found interesting and funny (perhaps because of how truthful this is). Regardless of how tough something appears to be, stay passionate and keep moving, its only bad if you stop, but be realistic as well.
Be sure to read some of the Youtube comments following this video here >>
"Can anyone tell me where the Mountain Dew dispenser is at? They told me it was here, but I don't see it." - Little Robot Guy
Sean, thanks for sharing. This was funny.

Finally got a hold of the XBox 360 Kinect with the kids to play Dance Central by Harmonix. The game is pretty darn fun, not to mention its also a great workout. I'm a big fan of the songlist with songs by Lady Gaga, Bel Biv Devoe and Cascada.
The ingame cinematic was pretty cool, and features a hip urban 2D animated style. Welp looks like a have a new label for this blog "ingame cinematics"

Chimera in Greek mythology is a creature that is part lion, goat and part snake, and is featured as one of the main obstacles in the Playstation's God of War III video game. This featurette is something that you will enjoy and learn a lot from. It features various interviews from all of the designers who contributed to the creature and it takes you through the many cool stages of development from conceptual development, modeling, animation and even fighting strategy - something you don't see very much these days.
Very nice and inspiring! Those of you who got a feeling for this conceptual art stuff, this is what you got to do, can you match this stuff? Yes, of course you can...just don't stop.
Fire it up and keep going! See ya'll at the top.
Ali - thanks for the heads up, and congrats on graduating.

Dragon fans, here's something coming down the firepit...can't stop watching this one. Its got great character design, animation, fight choreography and action packed editing that rivals film. Pay close attention to the camera movement. Nice work Dragon Age 2 .Crew. Can't wait for this game to come out - March 2011. To learn more about Dragon Age 2, click here >>.
And for something a little extra: Mike Laidlaw is a lead designer for Dragon Age 2, and in this interview, he gives insight into story structure, and unique programming concepts (2:55) new to the game. Enjoy.

Music plays a big part in the video games that we enjoy, it helps sets the tone, storytelling, and some become engrained in our psyche. It is simply impossible to imagine a video game without any music. This program was inspiring, it features many of the songs we know and love in the video games we play performed by a full symphonic orchestra. Simply inspiring and engaging. Personally, I'm particularly attracted to the World of Warcraft compositions. So be sure to check your local PBS station for its next appearance and enjoy.

This "Brink" trailer is pretty awesome. What makes this game pretty unique is its focus on free running, which is something that I'm a big fan of. The controls are quite sensitive, they would have to be if you want to incorporate some "free running" moves. Enjoy! Hey Mr. Key, thanks for the heads up. The game looks great, but I can watch this trailer over and over again.
You can watch an example of the gameplay below.

"Dragon Age" premiered in the video game arena in early November '09. After watching this trailer, many of us were tempted to buy the game, its really nice to look at. Seriously - Sweet. There needs to be a movie done in this way. One thing to watch out for in this trailer, is the "walking bomb" let us know if you find it. It also has great fight sequences and creature animation to keep us salivating.
Fire it up and Enjoy!

I realized that I had never logged this trailer on this blog. Here we go...brought to you by the magicians at Blizzard Entertainment. I love how the entire scene seems to grow not only in size but also in intensity. Enjoy!

We looked at both of these trailers of two video games we love the most. It was interesting to see both of these games interpreted in live action. Can anyone see a full length movie coming down the pipe? We could! Lots of fun entertaining the thought. Enjoy!

In this video, we explore gameplay within a simple environment created within the Unity 3D platform, in it, the designer talks about the various components needed to make an interesting game such as pacing, balance, the creation of a challenge and reward system and the amount of time needed to create this simple game. It took him about 4 weeks to make (this is great information if you've never made a game before). If you are interested in the subject and would like to one day create and design your own games, be sure to check out what this video talks about. I think you will find the information to be most beneficial.
Another reason to watch this piece is that our school will soon be switching over from the Unreal Tournament Game Engine, to the Unity 3D game engine. Watching the video will give you an idea of its capabilities. The video is another example of what Unity can do. Be sure to check out the Unity 3D site to get a feel for the variety Unity offers. Its pretty awesome.
Fire it up and enjoy!
